Lumina is operated by Valerii Ilovaiskyi, an individual entrepreneur registered in Ukraine, acting as the data controller for the personal data described below.

Account data. When you create an account we collect your email address and a unique account identifier. This is required to give you an account, sign you in, and keep your reading progress attached to you across devices. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
Learning progress. We store which chapters you have read, your quiz answers, experience points and skill levels, reading streaks, saved passages, and your flashcard review schedule. This is the core function of the app — without it there is no progression to show you. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
Usage events. We record in-app actions such as opening a book, completing a chapter, starting or skipping a quiz, and completing a review session. We use this only to understand how the app is used and to improve it. Legal basis: legitimate interest in operating and improving the service.
Preferences. Interface language, daily goal, quiz frequency, accent colour.
Technical data. Your device time zone, so that daily goals and reading streaks are calculated in your local day rather than ours.
We do not collect your name, phone number, precise location, contacts, photos, or payment card details. We do not use advertising identifiers, we do not serve advertising, and we do not sell or share your personal data with anyone for marketing purposes.

We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your account record, reading progress, experience points, streaks, quiz answers, saved passages and preferences from our database, and we delete your sign-in credentials from Firebase.
Aggregate usage statistics that cannot identify you may be retained for product analysis. Backups are retained on a rolling basis and are overwritten within 30 days.
You can delete your account at any time from within the app: Profile → Settings → Delete account. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, and receive a copy in a portable format. You may exercise these rights by writing to privacy@velstage.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Lumina is not intended for people under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored on servers protected by access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
We may update this policy. If we make a material change, we will notify you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when this version was published.
